“Knowledge is not about information, it is about application!”
What does this really mean? It means that you may have cognitive understanding of how something works, yet if you don’t do that thing regularly, you don’t have knowledge of it in your soul.
The body and spirit together = the soul. Alignment needs to happen so that what you think, what you say and what you do are all consistent.
In religious circles this misalignment is called hypocrisy.
One ancient Prophet stated,
“Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men”.
He is informing us that some people are hypocrites because they cannot fully live their beliefs. They give their beliefs lip service only, without actually living all they believe.
They are lacking in the application of the information that they have. Desires are not enough. Imagination is not enough. Good intentions are not enough.
In the world of personal development this disconnect between values, beliefs and behaviour is called in-congruence, how do we therefore get rid of values conflicts?
A congruent life is the most incredible, empowering, desirable condition that one can aspire for. Fully authentic and true to self and others. This is a condition that once tasted, is life altering, and one spends the rest of ones life dedicated to discovering and rediscovering and living according to the true self.
